The Anti-Depression Professional: Continuing Education and Certification: MODULE 6: Constructive Anti-Stress Ways of Thinking
'' I help my client or patient think to move forward ''
A large part of the thoughts are triggered by reflex habits. Unfortunately, they do not always lead to growth and happiness.
Forty years ago, psychiatrist David Burns demonstrated that depressed people have certain ways of thinking that make them anxious and depressed. By learning to think better, their depression faded for good. This does not mean that he did not use medication as needed or psychotherapy, but recognized ways of thinking and inner speech as an essential part of "becoming better, both in the short and long term".
Studies show that your client's or patient's thought patterns influence their resistance to stress and their success. What are the characteristics of helping vs. harmful thoughts, according to the latest research? What is the neurobiology behind these facts and how to explain it to your client or patient in a way to empower him or her? How to help in identifying one’s harmful thoughts? How to best accompany your client or patient in his unique process of change? How to use the tool "Healthy Brain" to follow the progression?
